It’s been a wild year for all of us, full of zigs and zags and everything in between, but one thing hasn’t changed — Trim-Tex remains dedicated to spotlighting and inspiring the drywall finishing world. In 2021, we’ve published around 50 educational articles, how-to guides and videos, while expanding our reach on Instagram to nearly 67,000 followers. Now that we’ve neared the end of the year, just like we did in 2020, we wanted to take a quick look back at the articles we’ve published that have struck a chord with our readers, whether you read through them while on a break on the jobsite or they sparked discussion and debate on our Facebook page. These are the most popular, most discussed Trim-Tex articles of 2021!
Fire Bead Case Study: Front Page Lofts, St. Louis
This year, our content team has been visiting more jobsites to see how Trim-Tex solutions are actually used in the field, and to show other finishers just how handy they can be. This case study — showcasing how St. Louis’ D&L Painting & Drywall was using our head-of-wall firestopping innovation Fire Bead in a massive renovation project — was the most popular of the articles that came out of these jobsite visits. From this short trip to St. Louis, we were able to get some awesome behind-the-studs photos, videos and conversations with D&L team members that really caught the attention of our fans and followers; we owe a huge debt of gratitude to the drywalling crew there for being so welcoming to us!
Drywall 101: The Roadmap for Drywall Layout
This installment of our popular “Drywall 101” series is a visual guide to all the little elements that make up drywall layout, from butt joints to corner beads. While many of our readers are seasoned drywall pros, every day is someone’s first day on the job, and for those folks, an article like this can be super helpful. Our graphic designer put a ton of extra love into crafting this guide, so we’re happy to see it connected with so many of you!
Combine Magic Corner & Fast Edge® for Top-Notch Tray Ceilings
Another jobsite we visited this year was a sprawling mansion not far from Trim-Tex HQ in Burr Ridge, Ill., a custom residential build from Construxus, Inc. Of the many incredible designs that the finishing crews were able to accomplish here, one thing that really caught our eye was this tray ceiling in one of the bedrooms. By using two Trim-Tex solutions in one design — Magic Corner on the inside corners and Fast Edge® on the outside ones — they were able to quickly, easily create this lovely ceiling that elevates the whole room.
How to Use Shadow Bead Like a Pro
Our Architectural Z Shadow Bead solution is one of our favorites to talk about — the designs you can pull off using this bead are so visually stunning, and look a lot more expensive than they actually are! And, meanwhile, one of our favorite drywall wizards out there on social media is PRC Taping, a consummate professional who makes some excellent videos. So, with those two elements combined? It’s no wonder that this quick tutorial for using Z Shadow Bead along the bottom edge of your drywall was such a big hit!
The Easiest Ways to Pull Off Perfectly Flat Drywall Ceilings
Drywall ceilings can be a huge source of frustration for finishers, so our brief guide to getting perfectly flat ceilings was naturally going to be a sought-after article. Plus, the magic key to a flat ceiling finish was an item that always sparks a lot of conversation over on social media: Buttboard. Many folks in the drywall industry cannot get enough of this uniquely engineered piece of OSB, and are always ready to jump into comments sections to talk about it. Learn more about the many advantages of using Buttboard here!
