Fire Rated 093V Expansion

Deep rigid “V” is joined at the bottom with a flexible connection allowing a full 3/8” of controlled movement. For use in wall assembly control joints, in lieu of providing extra fire rated backing materials. 

Fire Bead

Available for 2-hour fire rating. Prevents inside corner cracking when installed against a ceiling or concrete deck that may be subject to movement. 

Fire Gasket

Provides 0.5" of unencumbered movement. Installed pre-plasterboard with unbeatable speed — just stick it to the track and walk away.

Hotrod Type-X

Its versatile, rectangular compressible foam profile fits easily in deflection gaps. Features intumescent tape on edge of foam to replace both fire and sound sealant.

Each fire rated plasterboard accessory is equipped with a strip of innovative intumescent tape, which, when exposed to extreme heat, expands to 30 times its size to seal off wall joints from the spread of fire and smoke. The vinyl beads also feature flexible vinyl gaskets that accommodate for structural movement.

It depends on the product! Fire Bead and Fire Rated 093V Expansion are installed like any other vinyl plasterboard accessory: with staples and spray adhesive. Fire Gasket is installed pre-plasterboard by simply using the attached adhesive foam. As Hotrod Type-X is simply compressible foam and tape, it can be installed by sticking it onto t the track pre-plasterboard or stuffing it into the deflection gap post-plasterboard.

The bright pink color makes it easy for inspectors to identify these as “preformed firestop devices,” meaning they can know right away you have applied the correct dosage of firestop materials. And, since they install fully cured, they can be inspected the same day they're applied.

Even in cases where Trim-Tex’s fire rated plasterboard accessories cost more upfront than fire sealants, the time and labor saved more than makes up for it — these are installed faster and, by eliminating most opportunities for installer error, you are far less likely to have to come back and redo it all over again to pass inspection.
